                    THE APRILIA-CHEETAH RS500
The Aprilia RS500 represents for us, and for a great many two-stroke enthusiasts, the ultimate 'Bike That Should Have Been Built.' A rip-snorting dream bike with more grunt than a piggery at chow time, and with a singing top-end power hit to silence all two-stroke naysayers. Well, now it is being built.

The raw numbers alone - well they just stack up. 125kg bike. 110hp in Stage II street tune; 135hp in Stage IV race tune.

Combining the massive grunt of Trinity Racing Cheetah power mated to the unburstable Yamaha RD/RZ/Banshee bottom end with the unbeatable chassis of the flyweight Aprilia RS250, like peaches and cream we have a match made in motorcycling heaven.

So never mind the enviro-hippies and the adherents of 'predictable, controllable, linear four-stroke power.' No, it's time to take this beast to the streets and the tracks!

The best deal of all is that this project paves the way for anyone who is interested to get into their own RS500. Check out the development photos, below, and keep coming back here to check on progress. We can supply complete RS500 bikes; everything from chassis, engines, etc - or we can adapt your existing RS250 with a custom engine mounting cradle to accept the potent 485cc Cheetah engine.

Whether you fancy the ultimate two-stroke track-day tool or indeed the last word in a canyon-blaster, look no further, because the RS500 is here to satisfy your every two-stroke desire.

This is not just a Performance-Enhanced Blast Down Memory Lane - these engine kits usher in a whole new era of two-stroke technology and performance - the long-awaited age of the Two-Stroke Superbike! Suspension and tyres and brakes have evolved - now let's bring on the power!

In our zeal to complete the RS500 magic, we haven't forgotten RD-LCs, Yamaha RD/RZs, Yamagammas and others, so just drop us a line and we will be happy to help you realise your Cheetah and Cub engine dreams!

All enquiries about RS500 parts, including Trinity Racing Cheetah and Cub engine kits & matched Keihin PWK carbs; building of custom expansion chamber exhausts; RS500 engine mounting cradles; offset sprockets; Zeeltronic ignition systems etc. to Steve at offbeat@iinet.net.au please. Tel. 0427 774 285 or from outside Australia: +61 427 774 285.

The Two-Stroke Shop is also making high-capacity radiators, designed for running Trinity Racing Cheetah and Cub kits in the Yamaha RD/RZ chassis. We also offer Cheetah/RZ engine mounting kits for the Suzuki RG250 and the RGV250.

You are welcome to get in touch if you would just like to chat about the bike or bikes in general, especially two-strokes!

Thanks for your interest, keep coming back 'cos there will be a lot of progress on this page, and happening quickly too. The page will feature everything from how-tos on RZ/Cheetah crankcase port-matching, to clutch beef-ups and much more.

With 73mm bores and a 68mm (+4mm) stroker crank, the Cheetah 485cc is the largest you can go in a Cheetah mill without 'trenching' engine cases. The next step up in capacity is a 496cc Cheetah, which runs a +7mm stroker crank and consequently requires alloy weld or epoxy filling of engine cases in preparation for 'trenching' to allow for the longer crank throw. This can be a costly and potentially engine case weakening exercise, and all for the sake of a measly 11cc increase in capacity.

The Cheetah 485 then, uses only a modest +4mm stroker crank and requires mods to the top engine case only - which keeps cost and complexity down, and strength up.

Here is the full range of available Cheetah engine kit sizes:

                    400cc kit: Uses stock crank & +4mm bore (68mm)
                    421cc kit: Uses +4mm crank & +4mm bore (68mm)
                    472cc kit: Uses 4mm crank & +8mm bore (72mm)
                    485cc kit: Uses +4mm crank & +9mm bore (73mm)
                    496cc kit: Uses +7mm crank & +9mm bore (73mm)
                    535cc kit: Uses 10mm crank) Uses +10 mm crank & +9mm bore (73mm)
                    593cc kit: Uses 14mm crank) Uses +14mm crank & +9mm bore (73mm)
                    610cc kit: Uses 16mm crank) Uses +16mm crank & +9mm bore (73mm)

                      110 e 135 hp?
