Test Hungaroring, Day 2, ore 12: Norris sorprende, Kubica risale quarto!

Sebastian Vettel ha fatto una sosta nel lavoro della mattinata per parlare con i colleghi presenti in pt lane: il suo limite di 1'17"124 con la Ferrari SF70H sembra irraggiungibile per tutti, almeno per ora, anche se bisogna tenere in conto il graduale e costante miglioramento delle prestazioni di Lando Norris.

Il talentino della McLaren, con i suoi 17 anni ? il pi? giovane pilota in pista, ? l'unico degli altri, Vettel escluso, che ? riuscito a sfondare il muro dell'1'19, portando il suo limite a un interessante 1'18"914 con 34 giri al suo attivo. In progressione anche Geore Russell con la Mercedes: l'inglese del team di Brackley ? arrivato a 1'19"499 tenendosi a poco pi? di un decimo Robert Kubica che inizia la sua risalita nella lista dei tempi conquistando la quarta piazza provvisora.

Il polacco ha gi? totalizzato 46 giri dei 100 che sono in programma per lui in questa giornata magiara. Al momento Robert non ha avuto alcun problema di adattamento anche una pista tormentata come quella dell'Hungaroring. Ricordiamo che Kubica sta girando con le leve del cambio e della frizione solo sul lato sinistro per ovviare alle difficolt? della mano destra.

Carlos Sainz al momento ? il pilota che ha fatto pi? strada con la STR12: lo spagnolo ha totalizzato 51 giri con un giro migliore di 1'20"055. Luca Ghiotto con la Williams prosegue a fare chilometri con la FW40 fortemente rivista nel retrotreno con il nuovo cambio in carbonio che ha fatto il suo debutto in questi test con la sospensione posteriore rivista nei cinematismi.

Robert Kubica goes into detail in talking about his Renault RS17 test outing in Hungary - as he says he was left "happy but not 100 percent happy"

“Yes, [I’m happy] but not 100 percent happy,” Kubica told reporters. “The biggest difference is this car has nothing similar or same as the cars I have been testing lately.

“When you have so many things that are different, it normally takes a bit of time to adapt.

“Coming here, actually Nico Hulkenberg said the same, that once I will be able to drive here, probably I’ll be able to drive everywhere.

"You can predict it wasn’t easy, which I’m not hiding, but it was good. I could drive, I think, tomorrow easily so fitness level is good, which is a good sign.

“There are sides which need to be improved or need to get better but it’s always like this.”


Kubica said he didn’t feel any pain, but rather tiredness, especially given the hot and humid conditions.

“From a physical point of view, inside the car it is much better than it looks outside the car,” he said. “That’s what’s most important. I didn’t have any pain, I actually feel quite well.

"Of course, I’m tired. It has been a hot day in the end the eight hours of running, I jumped out only once for 10 minutes."

Kubica said one of the biggest differences he noticed in driving the 2017 machine was that the “cars are even heavier”.

He added: “When I last time drove the car, the minimum weight was 620kg, to have 100kg [extra] bringing around the track, it makes a big difference.

“In a rally car when you put a 20kg spare wheel in a car which is weighing 1,300kg, you feel it so imagine in a 600kg car adding 100kg."

When asked if he felt he had enough dexterity to deal with all the buttons, Kubica said: “Yeah, it’s not problem at all.”

He added: “For the adaptation of the steering wheel, there was not one part that was done especially for me.

“There are some adaptations on the gearshift leaver, but it’s something that’s been used in the past, it’s still been used lately with some other teams which I know, and I used it in the simulators. There is nothing that’s been done strictly for myself.

“The steering wheel was adapted the past two days but it was just to reshuffle the button positions to allow me to operate the highest priorities easier and the lower-priority buttons, which you never use, in the positions that are more difficult to reach."

In quarta posizione troviamo Robert Kubica: il polacco con la Renault R.S:17 ha fatto un figurone perch? ha sommato 142 giri (pari a due GP) e nel suo giro veloce di 1'18"572 ottenuto con un treno di Ultrasoft non aveva la T-wing montata sul cofano e aveva un certo quantitativo di benzina nel serbatoio, per cui non ha certo avuto la macchina in condizione da qualifica. Eppure il polacco ha dimostrato che la sue tempra non ? cambiata, perch? ? arrivato ad un solo decimo dal tempo con il quale Jolyon Palmer si ? qualificato 11esimo nel GP di domenica.

La prima risposta che la Renault ha avuto ? che Robert Kubica pu? firmare anche un contratto da pilota titolare perch? anche se ? stato lontano dalla F.1 per pi? di sei anni ? riapparso nel Circus in perfetta forma.

Robert, che ? poco indulgente con se stesso, non ? parso troppo soddisfatto della percorrenza nella chicane dove la menomazione alla mano gli ha fatto perdere pi? tempo di quanto pensasse. Ma l'approccio con le macchine 2017 dell'era ibrida che sono certamente le pi? impegnative degli ultimi anni ? stato molto positivo: Robert Kubica ? ancora un pilota in grado di fare la sua bella figura nel Circus per cui risentireno parlare di lui nel paddock ora che ? tornato...
